REPAIRS by
|
REPAIRS are a part of every saddle's life. Sometimes those repairs are minor, and
sometimes just enough is done to get a bit more life out of the saddle.
But when a real restoration is required, whether on a fine painting or a saddle, an expert is needed.
We bring the same expertise to saddle restoration that we bring to building new saddles.
While every restoration presents a different problem, the
examples below show what we were able to do in two
specific cases.

REPLICATION
This heirloom 1880s saddle had a hard life, but there was enough left to resurrect it.
After determining how it had been made and what sorts of hardware and decorative tooling were used, we very
carefully dissembled it down to its individual components while noting every detail of its interior construction.
We repaired the tree, salvaged a few components, and duplicated those beyond repair. We then
rebuilt the saddle in a form that was true to its original construction and style.

RESTORATION
Of course, not every repair is quite as challenging, but each one requires that we learn the details of the
saddle's original design and construction.
This 1910 saddle had been hard-worn but could be restored rather than replicated ... and its owner thought enough
of it to want it restored to near-new condition. We did that, and the saddle now is in daily use.
